Steps to Increase Your Sales Using Google Alerts

Need an automated search tool that serves as a great tool to track what customers are saying about you, which can increase sales and give critical feedback? Try Google Alerts as soon as possible. Google Alerts can provide you with up-to-the minute information based queries you make and is delivered to your RSS reader or e-mail account. What a great way to interact with customers and expand your business!


Step 1. *Set up a Google alert account.*

Go to Google Alerts. Find the Google alert box located on the right hand side of the page. Set up an account name of your choice.

Step 2. *Set up a Google account.*

Type in your existing regular Google e-mail account if you have one. Otherwise, you will be required to create one.

Step 3. *Create a Google alert.*

Select the category of alerts that you would like-news, blogs, websites, or groups. If you choose, by selecting comprehensive you will receive feedback from all of these sources. Any Google alert account permits for at most 1,000 unique searches. For example, suppose we are looking for grocers. Then we have the following search:

(existing OR new OR opening) grocers

Step 4. *Choose the frequency.*

Select the delivery option. If e-mail is selected as a preference, be sure to choose either once per day or week as the delivery mode to avoid being saturated with alerts, which quickly can become unmanageable. Then click on Create alert.

Step 5. *Review the output.*

Check your e-mail or RSS feed to find the results of your search. Once you understand how to perform a Google alert search and begin to get overwhelmed by the results, you may need AlertRank to sort through the e-mails or feeds if the output is overflowing.

Step 6. *Install AlertRank*
