STEP 28: Compelling vision
Business success coach and author Caterina Rando takes the concept of identifying your purpose an additional step further. She teaches that to succeed, you must have a compelling vision. Rando believes that your compelling vision must be so powerful that it rouses you out of bed in the morning and propels you through the day.
According to Rando, you must see and feel your vision. She recommends picturing yourself at the point when you have achieved your objective. For example, close your eyes and actually see the Mayor dedicating your sculpture in the park, waiters serving your apple strudel at the Four Seasons Restaurant, crossing home plate in the World Series at Fenway Park, accepting flowers at the Metropolitan Opera or exchanging vows with the man/woman of your dreams on a tropical South Seas island. See it in full color on a huge Imax screen, smell the aromas and hear all the sounds. Put yourself in the picture.
To be achievable, your compelling vision must have a powerful emotional component. In other words, you must feel it with passion, hunger or need. Strong emotions are the fuel that power and sustain your quests; they underlie the commitment that drives you to attain your dream. To achieve success, your desire to fulfill your vision must be stronger and more alluring than the obstacles you will face in trying to achieve it. And you will encounter obstacles, count on them.
