Planning Your Next Vacation

Written By alex spirer Published April 16th, 2012

With all of the stresses of life, the last thing most people want to do is plan out a vacation. They want it to just be done for them.

Here are some tips on how to make planning your vacation less stressful.

Step 1: Decide where you want to. You might think that picking where you want to go is the easy part, but for most people it can be the most stressful. They may ask themselves do I go somewhere warm and sit on the beach or do I go somewhere cultural and do a tour?

Step 2: Once you have figured out where you want to. The first thing I do is go online and look at state government site to see if where I want to go is safe for tourists at

Once I have discovered if it safe or not now I can start the real trip planning.

Step 3: Planning your trip out. I search for the country website by going to to see what the country/state I want to visit has to offer.

Next I figure out how many days I will be there.

Step 4: Then I look at or call American Express to find out if there are package deals I can get on hotel and airfare and if I am driving on a rental car as well.

Step 5: Booking the hotels/airfare

Now that I have looked over everything I go back to the internet and if I found a travel package online I will book it. I recommend booking as early as 6-8 months in advance to get the best deals. You can find deals last minute but sometimes that is not the case.

Step 6: Put together your intinerary

Now you can start planning out your days and picking the places you want to visit while you are away.

Step 7: Current Passport if going overseas

Make sure that you find your passport and make sure your passport won’t expire within the next 6 months. If it will I would go to the post office at least 2 months before to renew it. If you are in a rush you can look for a place to do it in a week or in a day but you will pay a high free.

Once you have your passport, make sure to make several copies of your passport to have in your luggage and to carry with you in case for any reason it gets lost or stolen while away.

I always give my parents a copy of mine for safe keeping.

Step 7: Enjoy your vacation. You deserve it. Enjoy your trip!

Safe travels!
