These days everyone owns a mobile phone, but few of us realize that this innocent gadget can be turned into a hidden spy inside our own homes and offices.

Spyphone is a 100% software based solution which users can download and convert any latest Nokia phone into a sophisticated spy device within a minute. Such device may have several spy features.

Step 1: If you call a spy phone from a predefined number, it makes no visible or audible indication that it is in operation, and you can listen to any conversations or discussions in progress around the spy phone. Conversations within 5 to 10 meters of the spy phone are completely audible. The software can be activated or deactivated by sending a silent sms to the converted phone and works on GSM networks only.

Yet another interesting spy feature is called sms forwarding. Upon installation of the spy software on the target phone, it enables to receive duplicate copies of all incoming and outgoing text messages that will be forwarded directly to the predefined number.

Step 2: The spyphone software controls the basic functions of the cell phone such as incoming call handling, back light, log engine and installation logs. No hardware tweaking of any kind has to be made and that there are no special steps for customizing the cell phone. The software is also invisible to the end user. Moreover, no parts of the software can be traced to be installed on the phone or logs of incoming calls.

Step 3: What could you use the spy phone for? In truth, the list is endless. You might want to check up on someone periodically, listening out for out-of-place sounds, and even intercepting real time calls between 2 parties. It can be used for listening to conversations in the office whilst away on travel. You might also use it monitor your children, wife or husband.

Step 4: You may come up with a question, how to protect myself from such spy? Here is the answer. At present such spy software can be installed on Symbian based smartphones only. Never leave your smartphone unattended. Do not give the phone to someone you do not know. If you suspect that spy software is installed on your phone, bring the phone immediately to the nearest service center. The most popular spy phone models are: 3250, 5500, E50, E60, E61, E61i, E62, E65, E70, N73, N76, N77, N80, N91, N95, 7610, 6600, 6670, 6110, 6120, 6121.

Firefox becomes #1 browser in Europe for the first time!

Firefox is – for the first time ever – the number one browser in Europe, according to StatCounter. Firefox has 38.11% of the European market share, while Internet Explorer (IE) is in the second place with 37.52%.

However; Firefox merely stood its ground while Google Chrome took the market share away from IE – Firefox didn’t experience great growth .

StatCounter CEO Aodhan Cullen says “This appears to be happening because Google’s Chrome is stealing share from Internet Explorer while Firefox is mainly maintaining its existing share.” Due to its rather agressive marketing Google Chrome has experienced great growth in Europe in 2010. Its market share jumped to 14.58%, compared to 5.06% in December 2009.

The European Commission made Microsoft implement a browser choice screen into Windows in early 2010. That allows all the users choose between several major browsers, including IE, Firefox, Google’s Chrome and Opera.

This interference by the European Commission must have contributed to IE’s diminishing market share. Suprisingly enough Opera reported a big increase in downloads after this policy was implemented.

StatCounter data comes from its network of more than 3 million websites, with a sample exceeding 15 billion page views per month.

The holiday season brings many of us technical problems that we must deal with. When you want to buy something online you many times would prefer to read the manual before you buy this gadget.

The other major frustration is at least for me when I can’t find the stupid manual and now I need to figure out whether is is online. A company called Retrevo has come to the rescue by compiling a database of manuals.

Here’s is a partial list of what Retrevo has done so far:

1. Cell phones
2. Laptops
3. Televisions
4. Digital cameras
5. Printers
6. Vacuums
7. GPS units
8. Blenders

I have a friend who has iPad that he doesn’t use – he is not quite sure how. You can find the iPad manual on Apple’s site. Read the iPad Manual here

In fact, this company Retrevo covers more than these major product categories. It has well over 100,000 manuals in its database. You can access Retrevo’s vast manual collection HERE. Retrevo’s site is much easier to navigate than most consumer-electronic companies’, so you’ll save lots of time when you need to get a manual and can get right back to running your business.

You are enable to store the Retrevo manuals you have downloaded “in the cloud” for access from a computer anywhere. The more techy ones of you may choose to dump all your manuals into Evernote. Using the Evernote desktop, iPhone, and iPad apps, you’ll have local access to your manuals whenever you need them. That is very convenient if you travel a lot and need the manual for example for your digital camera or laptop available.

Look forward to seeing some of you in Las Vegas on Feb 11, 12 & 13 at the 7 Steps To Launch Conference (speakers i.e. T Harv Eker, Brian Tracy, Barbara de Angelis, Ryan Lee, Brian Kurtz/Boardroom, Michael Fishman etc)

Most small business owners don't really know what business systems are. They think they are expensive computer hardware and software. Expert author Michael Clark share what they really are and how they are absolutely essential for small business success.

When I mention business systems to you, what comes to mind? Do you think of an IBM mainframe computer sitting in a big room in the middle of your building? Do you think of expensive, highly specialized software? That’s what many small business owners imagine. And they think it’s not for them. If that’s what you think, you’re only half right.

Half right because expensive, highly specialized software is probably not for you. Half wrong because good business systems most definitely are. A business system isn’t hardware or software. It’s the way that you do any part of your business. It’s how you do things. You are using systems all the time, you just may not be using them efficiently.

Step 1: I regularly urge business owners to get everything they know about their business out of their head and onto paper. I’m urging you now to do the same with your systems. Start writing out how you do things in your business. At a minimum, write out how you treat your customers or clients, how your paperwork for each sale flows, how your production systems work, how you market to clients, and how you do your bookkeeping.

Step 2: Do this in detail. For each area, make a very detailed description of every step in the process. Include what you do and why you do it. Include the subtle parts that make your company uniquely you. Include the parts that you are proud of. Include the tricks that make it efficient. Include what you tried that didn’t work and explain why. Each system should become a very rich, highly detailed system. Why so much detail?

Step 3: Because this is the beginning of being able to consistently deliver results. And the beginning of being able to consistently deliver results even when you aren’t around. Documented (written) systems make delegating much more manageable. Delegating is one of the keys to success in growing your business while still having a life.

Maybe you don’t want a bigger business. Maybe you want to keep yours small. Still, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to go on a long vacation and turn the keys over to someone else to run and make money for you while you are gone? Without systems, that wouldn’t be remotely possible. With systems almost anything is. Now, does that sound like something that should only be for big business? I think not.

The constant threat of hackers crashing corporate and small business systems has increased over the past 18 months. When starting your own business, you will need to consider how to secure your web-enabled business upfront to avoid any potential disasters upfront. You will also want to protect your customer’s information to avoid gaining a bad reputation for being a company that is frequently stolen from by hackers. There are several steps to take to secure your web-enabled business today to circumvent problems later down. Take a look.

Step 1 Decide if you want to outsource

There are 2 primary was to secure your web enabled business. These are to outsource the task to a professional hosting company or do it yourself in-house. If you outsource the work to firms such as Network Solutions (networksolutions.com) or Verio (verio.com) your system will be configured to their specifications. The outsource company should offer basic spam and virus protection, full time network monitoring, e-mail protection and filtering, and even power back-ups. A secure socket layer (SSL) server is vital also if you have an e-commerce site.

Step 2 Get a firewall

If you select to do it yourself keep in mind that all operating systems (Linux, Windows, Apple) have security flaws and require patches at different times. You will also need a firewall. A firewall can be wither hardware or software that stops undesired data traffic from entering your server. You’ll need to set your firewall so traffic routes through port 80, which is designated for web traffic. This will protect you from unexpected hacker attacks.

Step 3 Install an anti-virus program

Viruses are the most common threat to your web enabled business. Each year hundreds and thousands of viruses are undetected and infects systems worldwide. Last year alone, the Small Business Magazine noted that over $5 billion in lost sales and equipment were caused by viruses. Vanishing data and corrupted files are examples of how viruses work. Try McAfee’s anti-virus software found at mcafee.com or amazon.com. You may also want to try Norton’s Anti-virus software also. Use anti-virus software designed for servers as it has additional features to protect both servers, laptops, and desktops.

Step 4 Protect your system at the file level

Different operating systems have different functionality and thus require different security patches. Be sure to understand how your particular operating system works and at least once a week check for any updates and security patches to ensure your system is as protected as it can be.

Step 5 Use a different template

Although fancy scripting languages and flashes are pretty they can also increase your risk of exposure to viruses and to hacker attacks. These can also slow down the connection rate to your site. If possible use a basic and inexpensive html template found at godaddy.com or aplus.net, which still helps keep your web enabled business running and also reduces the risk of attacks and viruses.

Remember, your web enabled business is your business. Protect it. Please visit stepsto.com for more great business advice.

As you are starting your own business you will find that your need for a good IT vendor is great if you are looking to save money and at the same time keep your operations flowing smoothly. Choosing an IT vendor can seem daunting when starting your own business given the number of vendors out there and the cost of services for each vendor. Especially when you are on a limited budget, you may be hesitant to select a vendor. But there a a few steps to take to find a good IT vendor that is cost effective. Take a look.

Step 1 Evaluate maintenance and support

Maintenance and support will be an ongoing feature of any IT vendor. You need to be sure that you get the best deal and have the standard services. These include help desk support, time scaled responses to queries, general support for your firm in your geographical region, a service level agreement (SLA) that has escalation procedures should there be an outage, and a web based support portal that allows you to download any updates and patches. All of these must be included in your maintenance and support contract to make the value of an IT vendor’s service worthwhile.

Step 2 Get good implementation assistance

To set up your network or to install new software to help your business run more efficiently, a good implementation assistance program is essential. Such a program includes consultancy services, project management, software system installation, system analysis and testing, legacy conversion from the old system to the new one, and a metric reporting system to measure the success of the implementation.

Step 3 Ask about user training

This is by far the most important step. You and your employees need to have a flexible training course(s) in place so that everyone is cross trained on all aspects of the It initiative once a system is implemented. Training courses can be via CBT, DVD, or the Internet. Training manuals are also critical to obtain when possible.

Step 4 Check documentation

A good IT vendor will provide all necessary documentation on their system. Be sure that the documentation is easy to read and simple to follow, is cross referenced and indexed, and contains specific output screens, error messages, reports samples, and the corrective steps required in the event of malfunction.

Step 5 Follow up on accreditation and regulations

For the most part most IT vendors should follow the International Standard Organization (ISO) 900x series including ISO 9001. If the company does not have a particular outline for these standards you may want to look elsewhere for some industries as it is expected by government mandates.

Remember, a good IT vendor should reduce your operational costs and increase the value of your business. Please visit stepsto.com for more great business advice.

We hear all the time about video conferencing and about how it saves time and money; however, we do not hear nearly so much about what applications are available out there that really help people get ahead. Over the next few paragraphs, we are going to offer a few simple explanations for why Dim-Dim is the best application extant for online video conferencing. If you are looking for a fast and easy way to connect to the people that matter most (at least the people who matter the most professionally) then video conferencing with Dim-Dim is the only way to go.

Step 1: Explanation 1 It’s easy to use

Dim Dim has a very simple user interface and this allows you to quickly make the adjustments you want without becoming bogged down in limitless details. As if that is not enough, meeting hosts do not have to install anything with Dim-Dim – this is the case even when broadcast audio or video is required. All you really need is a MyScreen plug-in – and that is only necessary if you want to share your desktop. The key thing to bear in mind is that, if you can browse a web page, you can collaborate using Dim-Dim.

Step 2: Explanation 2 Fast access to current events

With Dim-Dim, it is actually quite easy to join into a web event because that is really required is a simple click of a URL and you are immersed in a web meeting in 8 seconds or less. MyScreen can also be used to share your screen immediately and this eliminates the need to schedule a meeting or to send invitations. If you can IM or phone or use Skype/Tweet, then you have a smart URL that works around your schedule.

Step 3: Explanation 3 It is possible to see and hear everything

With the Dim-Dim technology now available, one can see the presenter’s live video and desktop while hearing multiple Voices over IP (VoIP, in other words). For the larger meetings that do become unavoidable, the Dim-Dim application has a teleconference feature. Last of all, anyone who is at the meeting can actually send instant messages or make annotations on a white board; full participation is basically guaranteed.

Believe it or not, the purpose here is not to shill for Dim-Dim as much as it is to alert people to an exciting new online application that many of us simply know nothing about; if we actually take the time to review the latest technology, it becomes manifest that here is a fast and effective way of staying in touch with people who are far removed from us but whose presence we may constantly need and feel.

Most people do not associate mobile technology with charities – but they are wrong to do so. What follows below are a few simple steps that people should follow when making a text-based donation. If you keep these steps in mind, one thing you will immediately notice is that you will become a much more efficient donor to the organizations that mean the most to you and that could perhaps use your dollars the most. Follow these steps and the process becomes a very simple one.

Step 1 Keep the donation amounts small

When you decide to make a text-based donation, it is always wise to keep the donation amount small: people can be quite reckless or negligent when rushing to and fro and a bit of meta-cognitive thinking is never a bad thing.

Step 2 Make sure you target the right organization

Organizations that want your money usually have a short code (5 or 6 digits) that allows you to initiate the entire giving process online. When you know the code, send a message that features the keywords “AID,” “GIVE” or even the organization’s acronym. Always make sure that you have the right code in hand when you initiate that donation so that you do not run into the problem of sending the wrong money to the wrong organization. A little bit of repetition or rehearsal before you dial is never a bad thing.

Step 3 Always wait for the confirmation of donation

It sounds silly in some ways: you have already made your donation, yet now you are expected to wait on the confirmation? But the little secret people overlook when making mobile donations is that those brief confirmations are vital for the simple reason that they can keep you out of trouble: if you have inputted the wrong donation total, this is the perfect chance to correct things before you give away too much money – and far more than you wanted to give away.

At the end of it all, donating via mobile technology is fast and easy – and it can be a lot of fun, too. However, mobile technology has its problems – problems which mostly arise from the fact that the technology allows for carelessness for inappropriate sums of money to exchange hands. Whenever you use this new technology to give money to your favorite organization, always bear in mind that keeping the amounts in question small – and making sure to wait for the confirmation so that you can do a once-over before taking the final plunge – is immensely important; so many people forget that those small prompts on a small screen are there for a reason – and they are dealt some unpleasant surprises as a result.

As times continue to get tougher and tougher, many businesses, small and large, are seeking ways to cut costs even further. Many of these owners have found that cutting staff is no longer just enough. Nearly all business owners concur that businesses must do more work with fewer resources. Generally, this can lead to more mistakes as the remaining employees rush through their tasks at lightening speed and in general the added costs of using existing technologies to compensate for the lack of staffing.

But recently, a new scientific method has lead to the development of cloud computing, or also known as Sofware as a Service (SaaS). SaaS is the hottest trend in science and technology especially for small and medium sized businesses. SaaS is a delivery system where a software application is available through the Internet by a software publisher. The software publisher manages the software application for consumer use after paying a rental fee for the use of it. Let’s take a look at how it can help your business.

Step 1 Improve data security

Since the software publisher handles the backend of the operation, you can reduce the amount of attacks to your own internal servers and computing system as the providers install high security levels. In addition, the Internet is a safer to use these days given added firewalls and other protocols to block intrusion.

Step 2 Lower costs

There is very little, if any, upfront SaaS expenses because these set up costs are spread throughout a multiyear contract (up to three years) along with hardware costs. In addition, the cost of infrastructure management is lowered as the need for certification costs for staff, virus protection software, operating system upgrades, and science and tech staff is reduced significantly. If you compare your current science and technology costs with a standard three year contract you will see the saving difference of at least $50,000 annually.

Step 3 Enjoy the benefits of a host

The software publisher allows you to access the software through the Internet from an off-site data center that they manage in return for a monthly rental fee. The provider gives you vitually 100% back-up time through redundancy and top-notch virus protection even for your Internet broswers. Although you still rent the licensing fee and host fee, you eliminate significant advance fees and can use local SaaS service providers as needed at a lower cost.

Step 4 Be anywhere

Since the software application is available via the Internet and your firm does not have to host or manage the application, you and your staff can work anywhere. As such, you can not only reduce costs, but also expand your team to include any outsourcing.

Step 5 Find a SaaS

THere are many good SaaS providers out there. Try www.saas-showplace.com and www.parallels.com/products/saas to start.

Video-conferencing is one of the new fads that has made quite the imprint in recent years – but not everyone should be so quick to jump on the bandwagon. As with any technological innovation, this new method of communicating with others can be quite ineffective when situated in the wrong circumstances. As time allows, we are now going to list three considerations that everyone who is contemplating video-conferencing technology should never overlook when deciding if this is the right “connective tissue” for their organization

Step 1 what sort of clients are you dealing with?

Not everyone is going to burst with excitement at the prospect of being dragged into a video conference: some people dislike being ‘seen’ away from work and some people tend to wander around in a dishevelled state in the comfort and privacy of their own home. If that is you, then a video conference is the last thing you need.

Step 2 Is it really necessary to convey the things you want conveyed?

Sometimes, video conferencing is a needless hassle because a quick email or a quick phone message can be all that is needed. Unless it is a matter that requires some sort of graphic presentation – and most pertinent information can be sent by email, anyways – a video conference can be a superfluous bother.

Step 3 Is simply picking up the cell phone a better, more convenient, way of keeping in touch with everyone?

Relating somewhat to the last point, it requires a certain outlay of funds to access video-conferencing technology – and it is arguable that old stand-bys such as the cell phone can offer just as much value and are the sort of thing that long-standing customers will have more comfort in using. If there is no pressing need to use different technology to reach clients or even staff, then making the change may be a needless bother.

To get right down to it, videoconferencing is one of those things that can be a wonderfully effective tool for organizations that find themselves in the position of having to offer frequent visual presentations to investors, to clients or even to staff; the technology does have its place and is sure to become more popular as the years march onwards.

However, while certainly blessed with many advantages, videoconferencing has its problems: not everyone wants to be seen via video conference; it can be superfluous in some circumstances; and the technology may not really be an improvement upon what is already in use within the organization. When one takes the time to look at the matter carefully, it is always a legitimate question to ask whether or not videoconferencing is really the best thing for your organization and its needs.
