We hear all the time about video conferencing and about how it saves time and money; however, we do not hear nearly so much about what applications are available out there that really help people get ahead. Over the next few paragraphs, we are going to offer a few simple explanations for why Dim-Dim is the best application extant for online video conferencing. If you are looking for a fast and easy way to connect to the people that matter most (at least the people who matter the most professionally) then video conferencing with Dim-Dim is the only way to go.

Step 1: Explanation 1 It’s easy to use

Dim Dim has a very simple user interface and this allows you to quickly make the adjustments you want without becoming bogged down in limitless details. As if that is not enough, meeting hosts do not have to install anything with Dim-Dim – this is the case even when broadcast audio or video is required. All you really need is a MyScreen plug-in – and that is only necessary if you want to share your desktop. The key thing to bear in mind is that, if you can browse a web page, you can collaborate using Dim-Dim.

Step 2: Explanation 2 Fast access to current events

With Dim-Dim, it is actually quite easy to join into a web event because that is really required is a simple click of a URL and you are immersed in a web meeting in 8 seconds or less. MyScreen can also be used to share your screen immediately and this eliminates the need to schedule a meeting or to send invitations. If you can IM or phone or use Skype/Tweet, then you have a smart URL that works around your schedule.

Step 3: Explanation 3 It is possible to see and hear everything

With the Dim-Dim technology now available, one can see the presenter’s live video and desktop while hearing multiple Voices over IP (VoIP, in other words). For the larger meetings that do become unavoidable, the Dim-Dim application has a teleconference feature. Last of all, anyone who is at the meeting can actually send instant messages or make annotations on a white board; full participation is basically guaranteed.

Believe it or not, the purpose here is not to shill for Dim-Dim as much as it is to alert people to an exciting new online application that many of us simply know nothing about; if we actually take the time to review the latest technology, it becomes manifest that here is a fast and effective way of staying in touch with people who are far removed from us but whose presence we may constantly need and feel.

As times continue to get tougher and tougher, many businesses, small and large, are seeking ways to cut costs even further. Many of these owners have found that cutting staff is no longer just enough. Nearly all business owners concur that businesses must do more work with fewer resources. Generally, this can lead to more mistakes as the remaining employees rush through their tasks at lightening speed and in general the added costs of using existing technologies to compensate for the lack of staffing.

But recently, a new scientific method has lead to the development of cloud computing, or also known as Sofware as a Service (SaaS). SaaS is the hottest trend in science and technology especially for small and medium sized businesses. SaaS is a delivery system where a software application is available through the Internet by a software publisher. The software publisher manages the software application for consumer use after paying a rental fee for the use of it. Let’s take a look at how it can help your business.

Step 1 Improve data security

Since the software publisher handles the backend of the operation, you can reduce the amount of attacks to your own internal servers and computing system as the providers install high security levels. In addition, the Internet is a safer to use these days given added firewalls and other protocols to block intrusion.

Step 2 Lower costs

There is very little, if any, upfront SaaS expenses because these set up costs are spread throughout a multiyear contract (up to three years) along with hardware costs. In addition, the cost of infrastructure management is lowered as the need for certification costs for staff, virus protection software, operating system upgrades, and science and tech staff is reduced significantly. If you compare your current science and technology costs with a standard three year contract you will see the saving difference of at least $50,000 annually.

Step 3 Enjoy the benefits of a host

The software publisher allows you to access the software through the Internet from an off-site data center that they manage in return for a monthly rental fee. The provider gives you vitually 100% back-up time through redundancy and top-notch virus protection even for your Internet broswers. Although you still rent the licensing fee and host fee, you eliminate significant advance fees and can use local SaaS service providers as needed at a lower cost.

Step 4 Be anywhere

Since the software application is available via the Internet and your firm does not have to host or manage the application, you and your staff can work anywhere. As such, you can not only reduce costs, but also expand your team to include any outsourcing.

Step 5 Find a SaaS

THere are many good SaaS providers out there. Try www.saas-showplace.com and www.parallels.com/products/saas to start. You may also try www.microsoft.com/serviceproviders/saas

Video-conferencing is one of the new fads that has made quite the imprint in recent years – but not everyone should be so quick to jump on the bandwagon. As with any technological innovation, this new method of communicating with others can be quite ineffective when situated in the wrong circumstances. As time allows, we are now going to list three considerations that everyone who is contemplating video-conferencing technology should never overlook when deciding if this is the right “connective tissue” for their organization

Step 1 what sort of clients are you dealing with?

Not everyone is going to burst with excitement at the prospect of being dragged into a video conference: some people dislike being ‘seen’ away from work and some people tend to wander around in a dishevelled state in the comfort and privacy of their own home. If that is you, then a video conference is the last thing you need.

Step 2 Is it really necessary to convey the things you want conveyed?

Sometimes, video conferencing is a needless hassle because a quick email or a quick phone message can be all that is needed. Unless it is a matter that requires some sort of graphic presentation – and most pertinent information can be sent by email, anyways – a video conference can be a superfluous bother.

Step 3 Is simply picking up the cell phone a better, more convenient, way of keeping in touch with everyone?

Relating somewhat to the last point, it requires a certain outlay of funds to access video-conferencing technology – and it is arguable that old stand-bys such as the cell phone can offer just as much value and are the sort of thing that long-standing customers will have more comfort in using. If there is no pressing need to use different technology to reach clients or even staff, then making the change may be a needless bother.

To get right down to it, videoconferencing is one of those things that can be a wonderfully effective tool for organizations that find themselves in the position of having to offer frequent visual presentations to investors, to clients or even to staff; the technology does have its place and is sure to become more popular as the years march onwards.

However, while certainly blessed with many advantages, videoconferencing has its problems: not everyone wants to be seen via video conference; it can be superfluous in some circumstances; and the technology may not really be an improvement upon what is already in use within the organization. When one takes the time to look at the matter carefully, it is always a legitimate question to ask whether or not videoconferencing is really the best thing for your organization and its needs.

In the ensuing few paragraphs, we are going to highlight a few common-sense things that a consumer should always keep in mind when looking for the provider that is right for him or for her. Finding the right cell phone service provider is not rocket science – but it is not something that should be taken lightly, either.

It sounds like such a simple matter at first glance: get an efficient and effective and cost-effective cell phone or comparable mobile technology and life becomes a simpler task. However, there are actually a few subtle things that many people – whether they be people in business or people who are simply consumers looking for the best arrangement – conveniently overlook at their peril. In the ensuing few paragraphs, we are going to highlight a few common-sense things that a consumer should always keep in mind when looking for the provider that is right for him or for her. Finding the right cell phone service provider is not rocket science – but it is not something that should be taken lightly, either.

Step 1 Which service provider offers the most economical long distance plans?

The truth of the matter is that, if you travel a fair bit, you are going to be in locations where you will be dialling long distance; it cannot be avoided. If you have a service provider with a good long distance plan, however, you can spare yourself plenty in the way of money and a transient existence (which is the existence led by many business people as they sell products or oversee operations) becomes a whole lot easier.

Step 2 are you travelling overseas a lot? If so, GSM may be the way to go

It all depends, but GSM service really does have a larger global footprint than the CDMA coverage in the United States and GSM phones use SIM cards – which means that you can switch phones easily. Finally, at the global level, GSM users will find a wider selection of handsets. If you are overseas a lot, then GSM is the way to go.

Step 3 What do they offer in terms of services – and how much do those services cost?

This one is pretty easy: if you are looking for a service provider, consider what they are offering versus what their competitors are offering. When you have done that, consider the costs of the comparable services; if you are uncertain as to what a service really means, then ask a technician at a local retail store. When all is said and done, you can eventually get a sense of who is offering real value and who is not.

Finding the best phone service provider for you can be a real pain – but it must be done and you must know what your own peculiar needs are before you can do the job right. However, if you do the job right, then you will save yourself money and needless hassle while making your daily workday much more tolerable and enjoyable.

Gizmos and gadgets bring convenience and amusement into our lives. This article explores how many of the great inventions in history stemmed from simple gadgets created by smart men and women.

The history of gadgets spans as far back as humanity itself — since hominids began creating tools to make their lives easier. Humans have always created devices and appliances with specific practical purposes that were initially thought of as novelties, due to unfamiliarity with and initial unwillingness to accept the technology. Today, industry has augmented the creation of new gadgets, while certain retailers, including Brookstone and Richard Thalheimer’s RichardSolo.com, specialize in popularizing them.

Step 1: What famous inventors Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell and Leonardo da Vinci, among others, had in common was foresight. They understood that a lifetime spent playing with what others viewed as toys and senseless gadgets would eventually result in indispensable technology. From just that small group, the groundwork for electricity, communications, film, and flight was laid because of their gadgets, which obviously possessed more value than novelty.

Step 2: Perhaps one of the earliest, most well known gadgets created is the wheel, many millennia ago. Take a ride in your car and witness how truly revolutionary such a gadget became and how much we now rely on it for transportation. A more recent gadget, the Apple iPhone, appears to be the beginning stages of yet another gadget-turned-necessity that will reshape communications.

“The iPhone may someday be looked upon as the device that started a second revolution in computing. Desktop computing was the first revolution. Hand-held computing will someday be regarded as the second revolution, and the iPhone is the product that started it.”
-Richard Thalheimer, RichardSolo.com

Step 3: All gadgets were not created equal. In fact most inventions are built on the newest technology. The world of gadgets is tiered; devices fall into one of four categories: mechanical, electronic, programmable, and application. Mechanical gadgets include the wheel, as well as later developments such as the pulley, the bicycle, the sail boat, the thermometer and the sort. Following the advent of electricity, gadgets were taken to a new level as inventors began to discover different uses for the newly harnessed energy. The television, radio and quartz watch are examples of electronic gadgets. After electricity, inventors toyed around with electronic information via microprocessor, beginning an age of programmable devices such as computers, and later, MP3 players and the iPhone. Application gadgets include iTunes, Microsoft Office and other computer applications that customize our experience with programmable devices.

Step 4: Richard Thalheimer, the President and founder of online gadget vendor RichardSolo.com, and founder and former CEO of gadget giant The Sharper Image, understands, maybe better than anyone, that there’s much more to gadgets than novelty.

“Certainly most people enjoy the novelty of a gadget that introduces new convenience to their lifestyle. What they forget is that solving these everyday problems is not just entertainment, but some of these devices become functional necessities. In my personal life, I rely on my iPhone, my garage door opener, my nose hair trimmer, my electric toothbrush, and other gadgets that were once regarded as novel gadgets. ”
- Richard Thalheimer, RichardSolo.com

Both his former brainchild and his current venture sell quirky, useful and fun gadgets of all types, from mechanical to programmable and application. He has seen some devices, such as the Ionic Breeze air purifier, spur sensational and lasting trends based on a realization of utility value, while others collected dust on the shelves after their novelty wore out. Specialty stores like The Sharper Image and Richard Thalheimer’s RichardSolo.com serve a greater purpose: spread new ideas, and give credit to the Franklins and Edisons of the world.

Need a cost-effective and relatively easy tool to market your events and services? Try Twitter.

Instructions:

Step 1. * Set up a Twitter account *

Go to Twitter.com and register for an account. After registering, you will be prompted to verify your personal e-mail account.

Step 2. * Follow many different groups *

Learn about the vast number of Twitter users and their likes and dislikes by joining as many groups as possible. Follow groups that would be inclined to use your product or service.

Step 3. * Attract followers*

Attract a large number of followers by not using a private setting on your account and by linking your tweets to your company website. Utilize the tinyurl feature to fit each link, to maximize your wording given the 140-character limit.

Step 4. *Provide updates about your products and services continuously *

Tweet your followers on a recurring basis with updates about your product and also with small talk. Constant updates show your audience that you want to communicate with them about life and your product or service.

Step 5. *Offer coupons and other product promotions *

Offer coupons and other promotions to your followers to reward them for their time. Place a code for a coupon in the tweet itself, or you can post a link to your website with a printable version of the coupon.

Step 6. * Respond quickly to interested followers *

Respond quickly when a follower replies to your tweets so your current and potential followers know that you are not just trying to sell them a good or service, but that you actually care about them. This action adds credibility to your sales pitch. However, don’t overdo it. Tweeting your sales pitch often can appear to be spammy to followers, who will drop you quickly.

Step 7. * Follow the tweets of your followers *

Show your followers that you are interested in participating in an ongoing conversation and a long-term relationship by following the tweets of your followers. Review the responses to determine which sales pitch works best.

That’s it. Really! Follow these easy steps and you will see your business blossom before your eyes. Remember that constant, real-time contact with customers will keep your business afloat for years to come. Delay no more and start forging useful alliances with your customers and other businesses now by clicking here.
